Hilltown Bus Shelter progresses to second stage – McMahon

Cllr McMahon with Hilltown SInn Féin Spokesperson Gerry O’Hare

Crotlieve Sinn Féin Cllr Oksana McMahon has welcome progress on the campaign to provide a bus shelter for children of Spelga Park Hilltown.

Cllr McMahon along with local activist Gerry O’Hare initially raised this issue 6 months ago and we are delighted that it has progressed to stage 2 which will involve a site survey and feasibility study with a view to securing funding.

Translink has confirmed that this request meets their catchment area accessibility criteria.

The issue will be further discussed at the RTS committee in the NMDDC on Wednesday.

Furthermore Translink have suggested they are looking at providing another bus shelter closer to the Square in Hilltown, this is too is being considered for the 2 stage assessment.

We will continue to engage officials fighting for positive outcome as the school children travelling to St. Malachys and St. Marks schools will benefit greatly from this along with others both young and old from the local community.
