Sinn Féin’s Chris Hazzard MP has welcomed confirmation from Department for Infrastructure officials that enhanced direction signage for the Downe Hospital will be installed in Downpatrick.
The South Down MP had requested a review of existing signage following a number of complaints from outpatients and family members who had experienced difficulties in locating the Downe Hospital in recent months.
Mr. Hazzard said:
“I want to thank Southern Division officials for reviewing the existing direction signage to the hospital as a matter of priority in recent weeks.
“Not only is the existing signage in need of upgrading in places; but additional direction signs are needed to help patients and family members make their way to the Downe as efficiently as possible.
“While the Hospital is currently signed from the town centre, DfI Roads will now install additional signage on the approach from Belfast along with the upgrading and replacement of the existing yellow and black signs into permanent direction signs.”
