Sinn Féin’s Chris Hazzard MP has confirmed that a planned pedestrian crossing for Dundrum will be delivered within the next six months.
Last year as Infrastructure Minister, Mr Hazzard had announced that after many years lobbying by local Cllr Willie Clarke and Dundrum residents that a controlled pedestrian crossing would finally be delivered.
However with the local Sinn Féin representative winning June’s Westminster election, and moving on from his Ministerial position, fears grew locally that the scheme would slip down the pecking order.
Mr Hazzard said:
“I was delighted last year that TransportNI were able to agree to deliver this scheme; and I am equally delighted that they have confirmed to me this week that the crossing will be in place within the next six months.
“Local residents have waited a long time for this upgrade in pedestrian safety in Dundrum so Im sure they will be relieved to hear that its definitely going ahead.”
