South Down Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis raised her concerns regarding a local GP Practice in Rathfriland.
The Sinn Féin MLA said;
‘The departure of these 2 GPs in August is likely to leave a gap before suitable replacements are found for a GP Service which currently has 2,500 patients.’
‘This situation is incredibly worrying for all involved, I have been contacted by multiple concerned constituents who feel that local health provisions will suffer the longer the situation goes on.’
‘Health concerns are incredibly important, local GP services are at the forefront of patient care and lack of services in our local communities only puts further unneeded stress and strain on our already struggling health service.’
‘I along with my party colleagues will be doing everything we can to urge the Health Board as well as all relevant stakeholders to do their very best to make sure this situation is resolved as soon and as best as possible.’
