Ennis – A2 resurfacing to commence in December

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has welcomed news that resurfacing works on section of the A2 Newry-Warrenpoint Dual Carriageway will begin on the Friday 8th December with hope to have it finished by 11th December

The South Down MLA said

“It is great news for the local community that this resurfacing work will begin

“The it is imperative that the condition of the Carriageway is maintained to the highest possible standard as well as undertaking the necessary repairs to the surrounding road network.

“I raised the issue in a meeting with the permanent secretary of the Department of Infrastructure in October, stressing the need for this important work to be carried as the A2 Dual Carriageway is the main road network connecting South Down and the Mournes to Newry City. It also services Warrenpoint Port which is the second largest Port in the north and 3rd largest on the island.

“The businesses locally have been notified and it is hoped that there will be minimal disruption however I would ask for co-operation and patience from the public while this essential work is carried out.”
