Sinn Féin councillors Róisín Howell and John Rice have said the provision of a new crossing on Mill Hill in Castlewellan will enhance the road safety of all users.
Cllr Howell said:
“The Department for Infrastructure have confirmed that there is merit in the provision of a new crossing at Mill Hill in Castlewellan.
“The next stage would be to design a layout for this island and to see how feasible the construction would be and how this would impact road safety.
“This new crossing will enhance road safety of all users of this particular road.
Cllr Rice appealed to road users to “reduce their speed at this stretch of road as it used by school children and pedestrians alike.”
